Growing Our Vision for a Healthier Planet

We start by building the soil

We make sure our soil is rich in the essential nutrients our plants and our bodies need to thrive. By using only what nature provides and continuously adding organic matter to the top of the soil, we keep it nourished while leaving it minimally disturbed, staying true to our belief in keeping things natural and simple.

Our Mother Trees
are Protected

gardening

We preserve the mother trees so they can continue passing on their superior genetics to future generations and support the vital mycorrhizal networks they foster. As we deepen our understanding of these underground systems, we've discovered that planting young trees near mother trees brings incredible benefits. The older trees share nutrients, water, and even information, nurturing the seedlings in ways we're just beginning to understand. Witnessing these connections firsthand has been an eye-opening and inspiring experience.

We will continue to protect our mother trees and plant directly into the forest floor with minimal disturbance. Our goal is to tap into the underground ecosystem, giving our seedling trees the best opportunity to grow and thrive.

Preserving the soil biome

gardening

We practice no-till cultivation. We also advocate for no-till and minimal soil disturbance. However, we understand that each situation is unique, and in some instances and in certain climates some level of tillage or soil disturbance may be necessary. We are still ultimately opposed to the industrial and commercial level of tillage that is the modern norm.

No-Spray Farming

We do not use any sprays, even the so-called organic ones.

We are raising and breeding tilapia, and aquatic plants. Our aquatic plants keep the water clean, and they multiply prolifically, providing food to feed our chickens, fish, and plants. We also use the pond to water our gardens. We use no antibiotics, treatments, or commercial feed. Our aquaculture setup is a living biome and tends to take care of itself.

Mulch makes all the difference

Attributes of Mulch

-Retains Moisture

-Controls Weeds

-Attracts Earthworms

-Prevents Soil Erosion

And so much more. We don't use any purchased mulch, only what we collect.

- Protects Plants from Cold

Zone 10 Food Forest

gardening

Growing in Florida has been an amazing experience! We've been planting medicinal plants, fruit trees, and of course a ton of seeds. We have ponds stocked with tilapia, aquatic plants, and feeder fish. While planting we are continuously composting and mulching around every plant and seed. Our goal is to grow and forage 100% of what we eat year-round with extra to share. We will continue to plant more every year.

Our garden starts just 2 steps from the door.

gardening on the homestead

We love making life easier, and one of the simplest ways we've found is stepping just outside our door to pick a fresh meal. It quickly became clear that growing food close to home saves both time and energy. That's why we've filled our space with a wide variety of edible plants. Convenience, health, and self-sufficiency all in one.

Foraging For Wild Food

We are always discovering and learning about wild plants. We know it's worth our time to forage for nutritious food. We understand that they're more nutritious than their cultivated counterparts and have amazing medicinal benefits as well.

We Love Bamboo

There's a variety of bamboo for nearly every climate. In our food forest, we grow Oldhamii Bamboo, a remarkable plant that grows quickly and provides us with an abundance of mulch. After seeing its benefits firsthand, we knew we had to propagate it. It not only enhances the look of our food forest, but also supplies us with cooking fuel and building materials.
